SU80-7 :: Support GS :: SU Meeting Notes

SU Meeting Notes

  • Tue 20 Nov2007 - Pot Luck "Thank You" Dinner
  • Thu 11 Oct 2007
  • Wed 19 Sept 2007
    • Opening - Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the GS Promise.
    • The Service Unit team was introduced. We still need several SU team positions filled - especially organizers and cookie manager. Please canvas parents, neighbors, etc to recruit volunteers. Check out our SU Team page and the Support Girl Scouts page for a list of opening positions and descriptions.
    • Sasha Lord and Lorrie from Association 80 were introduced, spoke of a need for volunteers, and handed out a "We Need Adult Volunteers" flyer, a "You Can Be A Troop Leader!" flyer, and a Troop Report Form. Sasha also sharedd a story on how a mother approached her at an event, stated how football costs this much, gymnastics costs that much, piano costs this much, etc and being a single parent those were activities her kids could not participate in, but thanks to financial aide her daughters could always rely on being able to enjoy Girl Scouts.
    • New leaders were introduced, followed by Early Bird Reward Certificates being handed out to the following troops - 534, 695, 1832, 2353, 2408, 2815, 50, 461, 987, 1002, 1696, 3387, 4134, 1668, 3297, and 664.
    • Leader/Advisor Appointment Letters need to be filled out and turned in ASAP.
    • 1 Financial Report for Spring 2007 remains due. That troop is working on accomplishing this quickly.
    • SU Troop dues at $15 if turned in by 07 Oct. Afterwards they are $20.
    • Ashland GS Jump Start on 25 Sept at 7pm- need at least 2 adults to help fill out registration forms. Pattie GS Open House is 26 Sept at 7pm. Tentatively Montclair's GS Open House is 24 Sept.
    • Leaderfest is 16 Feb 2008 at Unversity of Maryland - look for more information to come in November for participants. If you have a talent or a skill you would like to teach to other GS volunteers, please contact GSCNC.
    • If your troop would like a website there are a couple options - including have a site hosted off of the service unit site or having a site hosted by another service and linked on the service unit site. These sites may be managed by yourself (or someone from your troop) or by the service unit teen web team. There is also an online calendar option for troops without a site. Contact the service unit webmaster for more information.
    • Last year Junior and Cadette/Senior Troops are asked to look at hosting service unit events. It was recommended to have an event 1-2 weeks after a leaders meeting to increase registration.
    • Silver Award Project - Clean Locust Shade Sat 06 Oct 1pm-5pm. Contact Troop 3297 for more information.
    • The service unit treasurer was introduced and reminded about service unit dues again.
    • This weekend (21-23 Sept) there is a scrapbooking weekend. One of our leaders has already registered and paid for a slot, but is now unable to attend. She has offered it to anyone in the service unit to take her place. Please contact Catherine White for more information.
    • Our next leaders meeting will be on Thurs 11 Oct.
